What is a Sober Companion?

A sober companion is a certified practitioner who provides support and guidance to individuals new to recovery. In addition to guidance, they help clients maintain sobriety by offering a level of accountability, and assistance in navigating everyday situations that might trigger substance use or other compulsive behaviors. With the goal of reducing relapse risk, sober companions often work closely with clients on a one-on-one basis, creating personalized plans to reinforce recovery and promote a healthy lifestyle.

About Me

My name is Dawn, and I am a grateful, recovering alcoholic. My recovery journey began in May of 1997 and has taken on many different manifestations over the past 25-plus years. I believe that being in recovery is a deeply personal journey that benefits from an open-minded approach to healing and growth. Embracing different solutions or modalities, such as therapy, support groups, meditation, exercise, or holistic practices, can provide a more comprehensive and individualized path to wellness.

As a certified sober companion with additional certifications in trauma conscious yoga, yoga for grief and loss, sound therapy, and mindful recovery practices, my mission is to walk alongside you as you navigate the challenges and gifts of recovery.

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
